[Watchdogs] Why does PEC belong to TEC ?

Paul:

It's bad enough that we waste member-owners' money on dues to Texas
Electric Cooperatives (TEC) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative
Association (NRECA). But, the attached page from the 2009 cost of
service study shows that about 29% of dues money in 2007 was used to
influence legislation.

It's a bitter pill to swallow that we are paying for TEC (for sure) and
the NRECA (probably) to influence legislation against our interests.
Last session of the Legislature TEC opposed open elections, open
records, open meetings, open etc., etc. for Texas electric cooperatives

The fact that the PEC Board and management continues to support
expenditures for organizations opposed to the best interests of PEC
member-owners is a glaring example of the contempt with which they hold
the member-owners of the PEC.

Incidentally, the cost of service consultant didn't really remove these
"unallowable" expenses, they simply reclassified them and placed then
elsewhere.
