2011 Annual Meeting
The 2011 Annual PEC membership meeting will take place on June 18, 2011 at the PEC Training Center (aka, the former River Palace), just north of the river on 281.
This year we’ll be voting on Board member candidates from Districts 2 and 3, as well as what voting system we’ll be using in the future (the current “at large” system, single member districts, or some hybrid of the two). See the draft ballot for details.
Voting begins on May 4th online and by mail. Online/mail voting closes on June 10, and the final chance to vote will be in person at the Annual Meeting.
Members approved the addition of a Member Bill of Rights and three other amendments to the PEC Articles of Incorporation. Members also elected Chris Perry as District 4 Director and Ross Fischer as District 5 Director, giving PEC a Board entirely elected through a democratic process, with each director nominated by members.

Not surprisingly considering the 36,000+ proxy votes assigned to the Board-controlled Proxy Committee (which we believe included O.C. Harmon, one of the incumbents up for reelection), the incumbents won the election. The PEC4U candidates made a fair showing considering our late start at rallying proxies, at around 730 votes each. This included 370 proxy votes which were assigned to PEC4U representatives; we assume that the remaining 360 came from the reported 580 members in attendance – or about 60% of those attending the meeting.
The major issue aired at the meeting had to do with the election process. PEC President Burnett and General Manager Fuelberg acted surprised that anyone felt that the process is unfair, alternating between saying that “it’s been this way for years” and promising that they’d examine the election process. This despite the fact that PEC4U’s people have been trying to get the message across to the PEC management for months that the elections process is deeply flawed.
Toward the end of the meeting Burnett or Fuelberg announced that there would be well publicized local meetings in the next few months scattered throughout the PEC service area in order to get feedback from the membership about the nominations, proxy, and elections process. Please let us know of meetings announced in your area, if any.
